About SRANI

The Special Recreation Associations Network of Illinois (SRANI) is a network of therapeutic recreation agencies. Special Recreation Associations provide community-based therapeutic recreation services to children and adults with disabilities. These agencies are members of the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA).

It is the mission of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association to be an advocate in providing quality park, recreation and conservation education, resources and services to professionals and citizens throughout the state of Illinois. Behind every great community is a great park and recreation department. The members of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association continually advance their professional careers through education and certification, networking opportunities and access to resources in order to better serve their communities and residents.

Therapeutic recreation professionals within the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association provide therapeutic recreation programs for people with disabilities in a variety of settings such as community-based Special Recreation Associations, schools, hospitals and clinical settings, physical rehabilitation centers, mental health settings and many others. These professionals are advocates for therapeutic recreation services for all residents of Illinois and through valuable partnerships; they collaborate to provide innovative programming for individuals with disabilities.
